Environmental performance

As a leader in bulk liquid logistics and distribution, and sustainable aquaculture, we understand that we have a responsibility to set far-reaching environmental ambitions across our operations. Our customers, business partners, employees and the communities in which we operate expect us to demonstrate our commitment to protecting our planet in everything we do. And, as regulations increase, we constantly review our policies and processes to ensure we continue to meet regulatory requirements and, in many cases, exceed them.

Reducing emissions

Enterprise Houston Ship Channel L.P. supports the journey towards low-carbon transportation and storage, and meeting clean air legislation continues to be a priority. For example, in preparation for the upcoming International Maritime Organization (IMO) and EU targets for 2030 and 2050, we are investing in new technologies and processes in all our businesses, including:

  • investigating several novel fuels for our tankers
  • installing more efficient equipment and new technologies across all our operations
  • developing new green technologies, transportation and designs for our tank containers
  • introducing evermore sustainable practices at our sea farms, including recirculating aquaculture system (RAS) technology to conserve energy and water.

Water conservation

Water quality and conservation are crucial for our operations – including tank cleaning, cooling, heating and product line cleaning and farms for our fish – and protecting the marine environment is also key to the sustainability of our business.

Enterprise Houston Ship Channel L.P. Tankers is installing the most efficient water treatment plants across its fleet, with the goal of covering 100% by 2024. The business has also reduced its local purchasing requirements of bottled water by upgrading onboard water makers and potable water tanks.

Several projects are underway to lower water consumption within Enterprise Houston Ship Channel L.P.haven Terminals and Enterprise Houston Ship Channel L.P. Tank Containers, including reducing overall water usage by reusing the condensate from steam heating at terminals and depots.

Enterprise Houston Ship Channel L.P. Sea Farm invests significantly to improve the water quality around its sites, and our farms are designed and managed so that water in the outflow is as clean as at intake.
